On the 23rd and 24th June, Pollok hosts its own inaugural Open for elite Juniors and we welcome a very strong field of 90 competitors principally from Scotland but including a number from England, Ireland, and Wales as it will attract WAGR and Order of Merit points. The field includes a number of elite girls and is a non-gender Competition.
We are pleased that three of our own juniors have won their way into the Competition-Johnny Bradley, Rosie Maguire and Fraser Thomson, and we wish them well.
The Competition is being run in association with Brendan McKenna’s ProDreamUSA who are responsible for both the booking and the operation of the event. The Open is also being generously sponsored by one of our members, John Horne, through The JR Group and we owe John a great deal of thanks for ensuring that this will be the most valuable Club -managed Junior Open in Scotland this year.
The format will be 36 holes on the 23rd when the field will be cut to the top 45 competitors who will play a further 18 holes on the morning of the 24th. The course will be closed to members on the 22nd with a last tee time of around 13.30 to provide for preparation for the following morning and will re-open to members from 11.00 on the 24thwhen, as with the recent Tartan Pro Tour, Members will be able to play the same course as the Open competitors.
This will be a rare opportunity to watch many of the country’s elite Juniors and we hope that a number of Members will take the opportunity to come to spectate.
