Junior SEction - Guidance Notes

Junior Rules

1)    Playing the Course / Booking Tee Times / BRS Booking App

A 2-stage system is in place regarding Junior Members’ access to play the course.

  • Our younger Junior Members and beginners may play the course when supervised by an adult Member or a Junior Convenor.  In these cases, the adult Member should book the tee time & reserve the Junior’s space using the “Guest” option.
  • When the Junior Convenors consider it appropriate for a Junior Member to play the course without supervision, they will be given access to BRS to book tee times for themselves.   Subject to the hours of play noted below, Junior Members can then book to play on their own or with other Junior Members without supervision.

Like all Members, Junior Members :-

  • May advance-book up to 4 tee times per week (Monday to Sunday).  More times can be booked on the day of play if the tee sheet is not already full.
  • Must record all names when booking. Tee times are not to be filled up with “Guest”.
  • Must only make advanced bookings with the firm intention of playing – tee times must not be routinely reserved & regularly cancelled.
  • Must report to the caddiemaster for registration before accessing the tee.

2)    Hours of Play
The following times apply whether Juniors play with or without an adult Member.

  • Monday to Friday 12.30 to 17.00 and after 19.00.
  • Competition Tuesdays After 19.00.
  • Saturdays After 12.30 if no competition or after the last competition time.
  • Sunday After 12.30.

3)    Handicaps

  • Juniors with access to BRS may play for their handicap whenever they play.
  • Players must log into the scoring computer in the club before play with a 4-digit PIN.  Select General Play, then either an 18-hole or a 9-hole option, and take the appropriate scorecard
  • Juniors will receive their initial handicap when scores for 54 holes are properly submitted and can then enter additional General Play scores for handicap for any round.
  • Scorecards must be completed correctly with the following information and then posted into the scorecard box in the clubhouse.

  1. The player’s name,
  2. The tees being played from (i.e. red or yellow),
  3. The date of play,
  4. The player’s signature and the marker/playing partner’s name.

The Caddiemasters can help anyone with handicaps and the scoring system at any time.  If anyone has any handicap queries, please send them to the Junior Convenor.

4)    Medal Competitions

  • Junior competitions are arranged throughout the playing season.
  • Certain Juniors may also play in senior medals when considered appropriate by the Junior Convenors.  Johnny, Rosie, Matthew & Fraser are currently in this category.
  • Please note this does not include the Senior Spring, Summer or Autumn Meetings.

5)    Junior Members’ Guests

  • Subject to the hours of play noted above, Junior Members may introduce one member’s guest Monday to Friday for a fee of £10. The guest is restricted to a junior, however an adult family member may be invited as a guest following a request to the General Manager.
  • Before play, payment must be made via the Caddiemaster or the bar staff and all the guests’ details must be entered into the visitors’ book in the lobby.
  • No guest can play Pollok more than 6 times in a calendar year when invited by any Members.

6)    General – Course
Like all Members, Juniors are kindly reminded to please :-

  • Replace all divots and repair all pitch-marks.
  • Rake or smooth bunkers of all footprints & club-marks before exiting.
  • Keep place on the course. Stay just behind those in front, not just ahead of those behind.
  • All players must invite those behind to play through if a full hole is lost on those in front.

7)    General – Clubhouse and Dress Code

  • Juniors are welcome to use the Andrew Jamieson Lounge or David Reid Bar in the clubhouse at any time.
  • In this regard please be aware of the attached Dress Code that applies to all Members.
